Celebrity-Turned-Jewelry-Designer: Molly Sims

Multi-tasking has to be fun when you're juggling being an actress and creating a jewelry line. Molly Sims, former Sports Illustrated model and Hollywood actress, is yet another celebrity to team up with HSN and launch a jewelry line. 'Grayce' will be a costume jewelry collection inspired by Art Deco designs from the 20's, artistic designs from the 60's, and her love of art and travel. Unfortunately, there are no leaked images of her earrings, cuffs, and necklaces, but be on the look out on HSN by November of this year!

The Mouse in my House

My little pup is all grown up! I can't believe she turns 28 today! (...well in dog years). I still remember the day I brought her home. She was all black with white feet and was originally named Socks. Today she's a beautiful blond bombshell. Born to a Yorkie mother and a Beagle father, Minnie certainly takes on each of their characteristics. And if you have yorkies or beagles, you know what I mean.

Celebrating Minnie's Favorites
1. Playing with her pink pig
2. Playing with her brown rabbit
3. Barking at the door bell
4. Stealing socks
5. Pulling towels off their racks
6. Hiding Beggin' Strips in her secret spot for later
7. Waking me up every morning at 7am
8. Play fighting with human hands
9. Snuggling
10. Kissing me right on the mouth...ewww

Happy Birthday Minnie!

Celebrity-Turned-Jewelry-Designer: Nicole Richie

I apologize...I've been so occupied with my butterfly feelings since my fiancee proposed, that I haven't had a minute to catch up with my Celebrity-Turned-Jewelry-Designer posts. So, please excuse me while I continue to blog with all the warm and fuzzies for a while.

Nicole Richie introduced her jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960, in October 2008 on Kitson's online boutique. Since then, the line has been worn by celebrities such as Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Vanessa Minnillo, Kim Kardashian, and the material girl herself--Madonna. Named after her daughter Harlow, this line is a collaboration with Mouawad and features pieces that are SO Nicole. I'm heading to Bloomies ASAP to check them out in person. Prices range from $50 to $150.

Here are some of my favorites!

This Classy Bee is F-A-M-O-U-S!

Autographs anyone? :)

Congratulations Ivelys & Adrian!!!

Here's to Ivelys and Adrian who ALSO got engaged the same day! How ironic is that? Two besties who have spent years and years dreaming about this together, both got engaged together! I promise it was not planned! Ivelys and Adrian are currently on a cruise to Mexico this week, and he popped the question early on Tuesday!

I am soooo happy for you both and wish you a lifetime of happiness! Love you!
At least we'll be planning together! HaHa!

A Special Announcement

A very special interruption for my very special announcement...

We're engaged!!! (Nelz & Melz A.K.A. Melson) I still can't believe it! I'm in total shock. I never expected it would happen yesterday! I'm am the luckiest girl in the world and couldn't be happier! My dreams came true! So I know what you're thinking, "How random was this Tuesday proposal?!" Here's how it went down...

My fiancee's (OMG!) biggest concern was that I would be caught completely off guard. After multiple date changes he settled on a random Tuesday because I would never expect it. Louis and Scarlette invited us to a Miami Spice double-date. I was excited when they said we should "do it big" and go to Mandarin Oriental's Azul. But honestly, I was feeling so sick, had a huge headache, and even felt a fever! I was definitely NOT in the mood to get all dressed up but my sister insisted that jeans were NOT allowed and I had to look my best. So I got home from work, changed into something pretty, and was able to feel fine enough to go.

Our reservations were at 8:30pm and at about 8:35pm Louis called Nelson and let him know that they would be late because they were stranded on the side of the road with a blown--no, shredded--tire. It was all part of the scheme but I totally fell for it. (If you know Louis, he is a very convincing story teller :) So we decided we would just hang out in the lobby and wait for them. After driving for about 20 minutes looking for the place, we finally found it. It was AMAZING! I followed him out to a balcony overlooking the bay and that's when he popped the question. I honestly don't really remember anything that was said! But I do remember that he was so nervous and when I hugged him, his temperature felt like 110 degrees! I was in shock, I cried non-stop, and finally said "Yes Babe!" It was perfect. AND MY RING IS PERFECT! He did a great job! He immediately pulled out a camera and started taking photos--he thought of everything!

The Maitre D' congratulated us and sat us down for a beautiful dinner. To our surprise, the jeweler sent us a bottle of wine and the restaurant staff served us a congratulatory dessert tray! I cried all through dinner and couldn't even eat! My nerves were shot! We talked about how far we've come in the last 8 years together and how excited we are to spend the rest of our lives happily ever after.

It was the perfect night. Here are some pictures to attest. Note my puffy crying eyes!

My sister had a celebration waiting for us at their house with champagne and homemade "engagement" cupcakes! I cried lots more and then felt sick again...But there was nothing that could ruin my night! I'm getting married to *him*! :)

Celebrity-Turned-Jewelry-Designer Week!

Some celebrities use their stardom to encourage world peace; others to raise funds for charities. Lately, it seems like the best way to get celebrities to 'give back' is to give them a jewelry line for all of us to enjoy. From Heidi Klum (who is currently being sued for ripping off the Van Cleef & Arpels clover design--YIKES!), to Lily Allen, Brody Jenner, Paula Abdul, Rachel Zoe, Jessica Simpson, JLo, Janice Dickinson, and so on...creating a jewelry line is just another business venture to add to their resume. In the meantime, I will rejoice in these new accessory lines and share one for each day this week!

Today's Celebrity Jewelry Designer: Tori Spelling

Flipping through channels one day, I stumbled upon HSN (don't make fun!) and Tori Spelling's line. Totally caught my attention. Check out the latest from her collection available here. Prices range from just $19 to $99! And as always, payment plans are available on HSN for your convenience :)

Friday Faves

I've been a busy-bee lately and I feel so guilty for neglecting my swarm. Here are some of my faves of the week!

Reminds me of a similar typeset silver one I have sitting on my shelf.

Glass Candlestick Lamp
Look closely at the insides. It has the coolest looking guts!
Encaustic Art
Encaustic art involves using heated beeswax and colored pigments on wood, canvas or other materials. It comes out so pretty. Next project: To learn how to make these!
These found here.

Taking it Back...

I swear the theme song for Growing Pains started playing in my head when I came across these photos. It took me waaay back. I can't believe I completely forgot about my FAVORITE game when I was little! Did any of you ever play with "Fashion Plates"? Fashion Plates were meant for all those little girls who dreamed of being a dress designer when they grow up. You were to choose from a variety of indented plastic plates with different pictures of dresses, tops, pants, and skirts, and then make combinations to create your own little fashion portfolio. You place a piece of paper over your combo, glide a black crayon over the indentations, and go crazy with the colored pencils. I remember spending hours and hours making outfits...it was addicting. Gosh, I wish I still had this. I would play all day!
